Description of Repair:

Images

The types of repairs to be completed are: installation of floor/wall insulation, subfloor, drywall (sekko board), OSB on exterior walls and enclose window and door openings. Samaritan's Purse will provide your team with instructions, power tools and supplies to do the job, however due to our limited amount of resources, we encourage you to bring your own hand tools. This team requires some experience in carpentry and the work is physically strenuous. Hopefully volunteers will have the opportunity to speak to the home owner being helped.

  • Tools to Bring: hammer, tape-measure, tool belt, speed square, and utility knife with extra blades.
  • Sleeping Bags, blankets and a pillow for sleeping. It can get very cold at night.
We recommend you to bring enough bedding to keep warm during the night. Please bring summer sleeping bag.
  • Enough change of clothes for the whole trip. (Please note that there is no laundry facility at the camp.)
  • Sturdy shoes, preferably rubber boots. There may be broken glasses and nails on the work site.
  • Sturdy rubber gloves suitable for picking up debris and possibly broken glass. We DO NOT recommend knit gloves.
  • Phone Charger. You can charge your cell phone at the camp.
  • Hair Drier. Enough power is provided at the camp for your use.
  • Flash light. Restrooms are outside the building. We recommend you to have it for night time.
  • Simple rain gear. You can use it to cover your clothes during "mud out".
  • Ear plugs (might help you to sleep at night).
  • Water bottle (you can fill it every day at the base camp).

Mission Statement

Mission Statement

Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

The organization serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Volunteer Teams

Volunteer teams must have an advanced, confirmed reservation to stay at Samaritan's Purse camp. Teams should consist of a maximum of 15 members, 16 years of age or older, willing to serve for a minimum of 3 days. Once your team has received a confirmed reservation, please call before changing the number of team members because of limited number of beds. For volunteers who are 16 or 17 years of age, a parent is required to sign a release form on-site for that child and must work on-site with the child at all times. The minimum age of the team leader is 20 years old and with leadership maturity. Teams should be prepared for manual labor to include home repair and clean up. Teams must provide their own transportation to the camp, and to and from the assigned work location. Each team member must bring their own work clothes and heavy shoes or boots, bedding, towels, and personal hygiene items. Samaritan's Purse will provide meals and sleeping quarters at no cost.

Statement of Faith

Samaritan's Purse bases its ministry on the following statement of faith:

• We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. II Timothy 3:15-17.

• We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 4:4-6.

• We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. John 1:1-4; Matthew 1:23; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 & 4:15; Acts 1:11 & 2:22-24; I Corinthians 15:3-4.

• We believe that, for the salvation of lost and sinful man, repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ results in regeneration by the Holy Spirit and that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. Titus 3:4-7; Luke 24:46-47; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Acts 4:12.

• We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life. Galatians 5:16-18; Romans 8:9.

• We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment. Revelation 20:11-15; I Corinthians 15:51-57.

• We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of His body, the Church. Ephesians 1:22-23; I Corinthians 12:12, 27.

• We believe that the ministry of evangelism is a responsibility of both the church and each Christian. Romans 10:9-15; Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20; I Peter 3:15

Statement of Practice

The commitment of Samaritan's Purse is "to serve and not be served." Serving on the field means your agreement to the following:

1. I am willing to set aside personal preferences, habits, and schedule in the interest of others to fulfill the ministry of the project to which I am assigned and to seek to win people to faith in Jesus Christ.

2. I understand there are variations in practice and understanding of Scripture in some areas of doctrine, Christian living, and witness. In serving Samaritan's Purse, I will abide by the standards of the project to which I am assigned in all areas, including dress, entertainment, activities, etc. This includes a willing agreement to abstain from the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco and to be sensitive to cultural, regional, and church expectations and standards.

3. In cooperation with the project setting, I seek to provide excellence in service and to present Jesus Christ as Lord.
